In recent years Children’s media have become increasingly complex and multi-faceted. Children are exposed to a huge amount of screen content. It’s a challenge for European film makers nowadays to stand out and gain the huge awareness forwards their films in diverse territories and within the target group itself.

The Opening Industry Day of the Financing Forum for Kids Content brings together producers and distributers with the clear aim of laying the ground for innovative, high quality film and cross platform co-productions that will meet the young audience, where they watch.

Opening Keynote Audience in the Mind
Speaker: Michael Gubbins (United Kingdom), is Chairman of Film Agency for Wales, film consultant and journalist, SampoMedia

Michael Gubbins, author of the reports Digital Revolution, published by Cine Regio between 2008 and 2012, is releasing a brand new report in 2014 under the title Audience in the Mind. The work focuses on the changing relationship between audience and content in an on demand digital age. Furthermore it looks at how this transformation might be turned into sustainable business without losing a cultural and commercial impact. In his keynote he will focus on what these changes mean for children’s films and will offer practical examples as well as hands-on advice on how to leverage financing, production and distribution methodologies.

Case study SPUTNIK
Speakers: Producer Marcel Lenz and director Markus Dietrich 

A live-action feature film produced by ostlicht filmproduction and Hamster Film GmbH in co-production with Pavel Strnad - Negativ Films (CZ), Dries Phlypo - A Private View (BE). The project was pitched at The Financing Forum 2010 and participated in the KIDS Regio Meeting Point 2012 in Malmö. SPUTNIK premiered in autumn 2013 and was short-listed for the German Film Award 2014!

WORK-SHOP 
Marketing and audience engagement for children’s live action features. Learn how to identify, engage and understand your audience!
Participants had the chance to explore the core essence of their projects, discuss the transmedia potential as well as cross-media opportunities of using social media channels to better market their film and thus understand how to engage with the target audience.
